Is Pinterest safe and ethical?

image

Pinterest is an online, image-laden bulletin board with over 10 million members addicted to pinning what they love.  Basically, a “pin” is an image that users upload from their own computer or from a website.  Sounds harmless, right? Not if you are concerned about online privacy and the questionable use of these innocently linked images for profit.

Digital Jazz

Almost a year ago, I blogged about the music industry and its growing affinity for mobile app software; at that time, not many music audio manufacturers had produced anything that was usable on a professional level. Only a few companies, like Peterson and Amplitube, had made apps that could have real world application. And even their usefulness was ancillary, at best.

Fast forward 11 months, and multiple industry conventions and trade shows later, and we are now flush with apps aimed at users ranging from young beginners to seasoned professionals.

The iPad as a Restaurant Menu

I have a new woman in my life and her name is Siri

image

Me: “I am hungry for some Chinese”

Siri: “I found 13 Chinese restaurants…11 of them are fairly close to you”

That was my first Siri command and it was also the simplest way that I have ever
located a Chinese restaurant. There are many alternatives to finding Chinese food
without using Siri. I could have used Yelp or Urbanspoon on my phone, Google on my
computer, or the yellow pages. Those options would have required my attention though,
and all I wanted to do was watch the leaves fall on a beautiful Fall day. Siri allowed me
to enjoy the beauty of mother nature by taking a mundane task and making it as simple
as pressing a button!
